How to ripen bananas in the oven

Craving banana bread now but your bananas aren’t there yet? All good! Heat your oven to 300 degrees fahrenheit and place your bananas on a cookie sheet or any oven save baking dish. Pop them in the oven for 15-20 minutes or until the outside is dark brown and they feel squishy.

Let them cool use them as needed.

    Properly measure the flour

Start by fluffing the flour a little with a spoon to aerate the flour. Then you’ll spoon the flour into the measuring cup. You want to fill the measuring cup all the way to the top and let the flour flow over a little. Then, you’ll use the back of a knife to level the top off.

Step by step process on how to make the best sour cream banana bread

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

In a bowl, combine 2 cups of flour, ½ a teaspoon of salt, 1 teaspoon of baking powder, and 1 teaspoon of baking soda and set aside.

In another bowl cream together the butter and sugar in a stand mixer or handheld mixer until all well incorporated.

Add the bananas to the butter mixture and mix until the bananas are completely mashed.

Add the 2 eggs and vanilla to the banan butter mixture and mix until it has all come together, about a minute.

Add flour mixture to wet mixture and combine by hand with a wooden spoon or spatula. Do not over-mix. Stir just enough so that it has come together but it’s ok if some of the flour is peaking through.

    Fold in the sour cream.

Grease a 9×5 loaf pan and add the batter to pan.

Mix the cinnamon and sugar together and sprinkle on top of the batter if desired.

    Bake for 1 hour.

After 1 hour check for doneness by inserting a toothpick in the center of the bread. If it comes out clean it is ready.

When done let cool on a wire rack before slicing.
