Sometimes also called a Lonche or Lonche Mexicano, this Mexican ham sandwich is a lunch staple!

What type of bread should I use?

These are normally served on telera or bolillo bread, but they really can be made with any bread you have available. Crusty Italian bread would be a great substitute for telera. What you want is a good hearty loaf of bread that can be filling. It can also be as easy as using a sliced sandwich loaf.

What type of ham should I use?

The popular choice is the Krakaus Polish Ham. You don’t necessarily have to use the brand Krakaus, just a ham that is similar to it. I believe this is a polish style ham. It’s just a good ol’ plain ham with no added flavorings, but feel free to use your favorite ham in its place.

    Step by step process

Start by taking your preferred sandwich bread, and spreading mayo on both top and bottom bun.

To the bottom bun, add the slices of ham. You can layer them or fold them to make them look less flat.

On top of the ham add the sliced tomato, pickled jalapeños, and onion.

Then, on top of that goes the lettuce, avocado, and optional hot sauce.

Top with the other bun, and slice it in half or enjoy it whole.

Note: All of the ingredients and their measurements are just a suggestion. If you want more or less mayo or ham feel free to remove or keep on adding until you reach your desired amount.

All of the toppings are optional. If you aren’t an onion fan, dude, leave it out. Same goes for adding in other fave veggie toppings. Add what makes you happy and remove what doesn’t.
